Leika
Leika is a set of metal trestles designed to support a tabletop. The design shows how very simple products can be made with modern production technologies. Laser profile cutting weakens the industrial steel profile so that it can be bent. A round profile is then enclosed under pressure, forming a geometric lock that holds the trestles together without screws. A clear click sound confirms that the lock is closed. The legs are adjustable to suit uneven surfaces. Galvanized metal gives a long service life, and the trestles can be shipped flat packed.
Leika Metal Trestles by Nimrod Shani was highlighted as an exceptional example of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Leika Metal Trestles received the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Accessories, Hardware and Materials Design in 2024. The A' Furniture Accessories, Hardware and Materials Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design accolade which honors exceptional design of knobs, handles, hinges, casters, sliders, brackets, fasteners, locks and more.
